Europe’s Largest Urban Regeneration Project
In 2015, we formed a joint venture with QIA to acquire Canary Wharf Group plc for approximately £2.6 billion. Canary Wharf Group led the largest urban regeneration project in Europe and develops, manages and owns interests in approximately 9 million square feet of mixed-use space, and over 1,100 bu8ild-to-rent apartments and more than 800 apartments for sale. Through this transaction, we have joint control of 11 office buildings spanning approximately 7 million square feet, over 800,000 square feet of retail, and an active office and residential development pipeline of over 3 million square feet. We have been working alongside the company and our partners as Canary Wharf has evolved into a 24/7 live, work, play destination with the recent opening of the Elizabeth Line as a significant catalyst for further growth.
